RESPONSIBILITIES:

Essential Functions -


  • Provide academic advising services to students who are undecided.
  • Communicate with representatives from other colleges on topics related to transfer.
  • In cooperation with Student Success Center staff, develop and coordinate career advising, orientation, and student engagement activities.
  • Maintain articulation documents using computerized delivery systems.
  • Implement retention procedures including a variety of intervention activities.
  • Utilize multiple contact management delivery systems (e.g., virtual, text, call, chat, face to face, email, and/or other) and document student communications accordingly.
  • Maintain resource materials related to advising.
  • Assess students and potential students utilizing college adopted assessment tools.
  • Participate actively on institutional committees.
  • Comply with HutchCC policies, procedures, and practices.
  • Arrive on time for work, attend work regularly, and successfully complete the responsibilities of the position.
  • Attend SSC staff meetings.
  • All other duties assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's Degree required.
  • Academic advising or related experience preferred.
  • The ability to work with students with varied needs. This person must also be able to work effectively with faculty and staff.
  • Computer literacy, including spreadsheets, word processing, and presentation software, is preferred.
  • Physical requirements: Excellent verbal, written and listening skills; Must have the ability to sit for stand or extended periods of time; exhibit manual dexterity to dial a telephone, to enter data into a computer, and to operate additional office equipment; see and read a computer screen and printed material with or without vision aids; hear and understand speech at normal levels and on the telephone; speak in audible tones so that others may understand clearly in person and on the telephone; use appropriate judgment and to apply tact and courtesy in difficult situations; understand words and respond effectively and appropriately; attentive to detail, accurately follow written and verbal instructions, work independently, sedentary/indoor work environment
  • Mental requirements include the ability to learn and comprehend basic instructions about the position.

SALARY and STATUS:

Salary is commensurate with qualifications as determined by HutchCC administration. This full-time administrative staff position is 12-months annual, benefit eligible, at-will, and exempt.
